Animal Agriculture

This is such a big problem it's very hard for the average person to understand just how bad it is. Agriculture for meat and milk consumption has been likened to burning coal when the impact on Earths resources is measured. Just 1 hamburger uses 660 gallons of water. 1,000 gallons of water are required to produce 1 gallon of milk. Every 60 seconds, 7 million pounds of excrement are produced by animals raised for food in the US. Animal agriculture accounts for more greenhouse gas emissions than all transportation globally. 90% of Amazon deforestation is driven by animal agriculture. Over 130,000,000 acres of rainforest has been cleared for animal agriculture. 30% of the Earth’s entire land surface is used by the livestock sector. The list goes on and on and the facts are clear cut. Human consumption of meat has created the greatest threat to greenhouse gas emission and water use. Simply moving our diets away from meat consumption would have a major impact on the Earths health.
